Access granted by the Maningrida Community
The Maningrida Mirage was produced by the Maningrida community from
September 1969 until October 1974 with just under 250 issues being
produced. Other local newspapers followed - the Gabalgu Jurra ,
Manayingkarirra Djurrung and Manayingkarirra Djurran Janguny.
The Newspaper hoped to, "develop community spirit by bringing news
and information about what was happening in Maningrida and the new
rural settlements" (issue1) and to look beyond to see Maningrida's place
in the development of Arnhem Land generally.
