Slides TOCI have grouped the slides in three categories to make them somewhat easier to use.
- The Reconnaissance set came from my first visit to Central Australia in 1970 and covers a broad area from Papunya and Haast’s Bluff in the west to MacDonald Downs in the northeast.
- The Utilitarian set was made in 1971-72 and deals with ordinary activities of daily living among the Alyawarra such as housing, cooking, carrying water and firewood, collecting foods, etc.
- The Ceremonial set also was made in 1971-72 and deals with Alyawarra art, dance, initiation ceremonies, visits to dreaming sites, rain making, etc.

- You can sort the Utilitarian and Ceremonial tables on the Month column to approximate chronological ordering.
Do the following:
- Read Location, Short Caption to identify a photograph.
- Select Print# to display the photograph.
- To read the text entry that describes the slide, open the Field Journal to the indicated Month and use “find” to find the slide number, e.g., “Slide 101”.
