Obtaining Photographs

How to Request a Photographic Copy from Dawn / New Dawn.

Very few of the original photographs taken and used in Dawn and New Dawn still exist. If you want to obtain a photographic copy, the only option is for a photograph to be taken from these magazines. The copy produced will only be as good as the photograph in the magazine. A photograph or digital copy can be ordered from the State Library of NSW. They can provide high quality images in a range of photographic and digital formats - including 20cm by 25cm prints.

Please note the following:

  • You will need to record the following details - magazine title, month and year of issue, the page number and importantly, the photograph caption.
  • Alternatively, if you can get a copy of the page from printer - then mark the photograph and caption you want to be copied.
  • You will not need copyright permission to request a photograph for personal use. This is only required for publication purposes.
